Free Virtual Cooking Classes

Gucci Osteria’s Massimo Bottura is offering free virtual cooking classes on Instagram. The Michelin-starred chef is enpersonal Instagram pageergetic as ever, and just the jolt of optimism we need as millions enter into quarantine to mitigate the spread of the virus. While some in isolation are turning to the best delivery in their cities, others are using the time at home to jump into their own kitchens, and Bottura wants to help with a nightly, free cooking series he’s launched via his own personal Instagram page.

Penn COVID-19 Guide

In response to these evolving situations, APSC condemns the violence occurring against our communities and insists the University of Pennsylvania provide critical support of First Generation and Low Income (FGLI) and international students in the midst of this evacuation/shut-down. Below, we have provided a categorized compilation of issues and concerns students have at this time—and we implore the University of Pennsylvania to address them and consider them as a guide in creating an accessible and adequate infrastructure for financial and academic support of all students, with an emphasis on FGLI and international students.

Philly COVID-19 Resources

In 2017, the Philadelphia Education Fund launched PhillyGoes2College to serve as a resource for students and families interested in learning more the process of applying, financing, and enrolling in college.

With the advent of COVID-19, we recognize that PhillyGoes2College can play a key role in supporting high school and college students who will now need to navigate a new, uncertain, and quickly changing educational journey.

As a starting point for those who have questions, the Philadelphia Education Fund recently joined with our partners at Philadelphia Futures and Summer Search Philadelphia to produce a COVID-19 Resource Guide containing answers to frequently asked questions and resources for current and future college students.

Swarthmore Venmo Fund Requests

Due to recent events, many students are in need of financial assistance for housing, transportation, and food. We created this venmo so that we could match students who are in need with funds provided by people generous enough to help out. We are using a personal venmo account, but the money will stay in the venmo balance and not in a bank account. Any excess funds will be appropriately refunded/managed. Requests above $100 will be fulfilled incrementally depending on the flow of donations!
