David Thai

Vice President, Chief Content Officer and Board Member


David graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2018 with a major in Health & Societies with a concentration in Healthcare Markets & Finance and is currently a Life Sciences Analyst at the Windrose Consulting Group in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Windrose, he completed a Fulbright Fellowship teaching English to high school students in Vietnam. During his time at Penn, David led a first-year mentoring program, co-directed student programming for the annual 1vyG Conference, co-founded a support group for FGLI Asian American students, and co-founded a nonprofit called Collective Success that supports local FGLI students. For his work, advocacy, and support for FGLI college students, David became the recipient of the UPAAN Student Leadership Award and the Sol Feinstone Award. He graduated as a Mayor’s Scholar, PennCAP Scholar, and a member of the Carriage Senior Honor Society and the Oracle Senior Honor Society.

David joined Rise First to continue his work to empower more FGLI students. He is excited to apply his leadership skills to inspire and motivate FGLI students to not only achieve their fullest potential but also make significant impacts. Since joining Rise First, David has been instrumental in the platform’s content development. He has worked closely with a team of dedicated, creative individuals as well as supervising several interns on various projects in an effort to democratize information for FGLI students. As the Chief Content Officer, David is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and execution of Rise First’s core content, and he looks forward to continuing his commitment in building a start-up business from the ground up, managing strategic and operational initiatives, and honing his problem-solving skills.
