Hasbanny graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Business Management. During her undergraduate career, Hasbanny has dedicated most of her time volunteering with non-profit organizations dedicated to helping women and undocumented immigrants. She volunteers at Mujeres Unidas, where they help women escape from domestic violence and abuse. In addition, she is also passionate about advocating for women in STEM careers. She is a mentor at PyLadiesRGV, where she participates in events to mentor women from different walks of life, in order to increase and encourage women in the tech industry.
Currently, Hasbanny is about to start graduate school to earn a Masters of Science in Computer Science from UTRGV. During her gap year, she worked for Rise First as a web development intern, where she worked with Jesse Cui to migrate the organization’s website from Squarespace to Amazon Web Services. As a FGLI student herself, she wants to focus on helping other students, especially those from vulnerable populations such as DACA and undocumented students, pursue a college education.
