The “I Have A Dream” Foundation works to ensure that all children have the opportunity to pursue higher education, fulfill their potential, and achieve their dreams. We empower children (“Dreamers”) in low-income communities to graduate from college by equipping them with the skills and knowledge to succeed in postsecondary school, along with tuition support to remove financial barriers. By helping our Dreamers gain access to college, we are putting them on a different academic and life trajectory, while having a broader impact on the students’ families and the generations that follow.

IHDF works with Dreamers after school, on the weekends, and over the summer for over ten years, developing long-term relationships with Dreamers and their families. We provide academic and socio-emotional support to Dreamers, equipping them with the confidence and life skills needed to pursue their most ambitious dreams.

The “I Have a Dream” Foundation’s mission is to empower children from low-income communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with postsecondary tuition assistance.

100 Black Men - DC

The 100BMGWDC is devoted to improving the quality of life for African-American youth in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area through programs focusing on Mentoring, Education, Economic Empowerment, Health & Wellness, and Leadership Development.

The program works with youth in the greatest need to help them establish, and achieve their goals. Since its founding in 1995 the program has been able to serve over 14,000 children and families within the local community.

The First Generation Handbook will provide you with information about how college works and what to expect at UGA. You’ll learn the most important terms you need to know, the critical resources on campus, academic expectations and some of the changes you will experience.

The First Leadership Institute is an opportunity to meet other first generation students while developing your leadership and professional skills, culminating in 1st at the First Ambassadorships on campus.

The 1st Generation Camels Mentoring Program is designed to provide first generation college students with meaningful relationships with faculty, staff and alumni who were also first generation college students.

This community of mentors is dedicated to sharing their own experiences as first generation students and providing caring guidance to our new first generation students that will support their persistence through graduation. Mentors commit to mentoring at least one student for one academic year for at least 2 hours per term. The First-Year Experience Office will serve as your main level of support.

1stG ND (First Generation Notre Dame)

1stG ND was founded with a simple goal: to bring together students who were the first in their families to go to college. Starting as a Facebook group, the online community quickly grew from two co-founders to over 200 first-generation and low socioeconomic status students from Notre Dame, St. Mary’s, and Holy Cross.

1stG ND has grown into a network, resource, and group of friends that support one another as they face the unique journey of navigating an elite university with an entirely different background than many of their peers. With each passing year, this organization continues to grow into a go-to place for students to share their hopes, dreams, hardships, and fears, along with the tips, tricks, strategies, and encouraging words to overcome challenges and feel at home under the Dome.

2 Degrees Portland

2 Degrees Portland is a network of people who want to sustain and grow the city’s economy by welcoming creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, and thinkers to the area — a sort of 21st century welcome wagon.

The network holds informal gatherings every other month, so that members can break out of their domain silos and get to know the diverse array of people who make Portland a great place to live and work. While the network promotes having a good time, it also serves to strengthen the creative community and help newcomers tap into our growing network of talented, motivated people.

21st century scholars

Earning the 21st Century Scholarship provides students up to four years of undergraduate tuition* at any participating public college or university in Indiana. If you attend a private college, the state will award an amount comparable to that of a four-year public college. If you attend a participating proprietary (for-profit) school, the state will award a tuition scholarship equal to that of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.

The Academic Advancement Program (AAP), a multiracial program, represents the best of what United States society aspires to: access, equity, opportunity, and excellence. AAP has a three key goals: to create and administer innovative academic programs for first generation, low-income and students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education; to provide academic support for a diverse population of undergraduate students in their pursuit of academic excellence; to promote UCLA access and academic success for high school and community college students across the State’s increasingly diverse populations.

AAP programs and services are proactive rather than reactive, comprehensive rather than fragmented, and oriented toward furthering the long-term academic and personal growth of AAP students – rather than merely solving or mitigating immediate problems. Moreover, AAP encourages and promotes academic achievement and excellence by providing students with:

Academic Exploration Program (AEP)

AFFILIATION: STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK - DELHI | LOCATION: NEW YORK | LIFE STAGE: COLLEGE | CATEGORY: SCHOLARSHIP

The Academic Exploration Program for undeclared students takes a holistic approach to academic, career, and personal support to help you transition to SUNY Delhi. Students get intensive support from an advisor who will help them adjust to college life, from exploring academic options to developing strong study habits, managing money, and adjusting to life away from home.

In their first two semesters, students begin fulfilling general education requirements while exploring their academic interests. By their second year, participants in the program will have selected a major and be on their way to earning an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.

Accelerate Delaware’s goal is to develop and implement a strategy for increasing the percentage of talented young professionals & millennials who choose to build their careers and lives in Delaware.
